There are 3 different judging streams

1. Teacher/Class Competition (streams 1 and 2)

Under this category, there are two class judging streams, one for Primary (years 1-6) and one for Intermediate/Secondary (years 7-10). Entries are invited from groups or classes of students who, along with their teacher, develop and submit a MARVIN presentation which meets one of these criteria and responds to the brief which follows.

Judging criteria for class competition:

1. Originality and creativity: the extent to which the MARVIN presentation represents a new and innovative way of communicating an idea or outcome;
2. Use of MARVIN capabilities: the extent to which the MARVIN presentation effectively utilises the capabilities of the software, appropriate to the requirements of the task;
3. Supporting documentation: the extent to which the written material submitted with the entry clearly illustrates how MARVIN was integrated within the unit of work, or the teaching and learning programme generally;

2. Individual Student Competition – solving the riddle (stream 3)

Regardless of whether your class is submitting an entry to the class competition, individual students are invited to solve the riddle below and upload their own clips to the riddle tab, and win a prize for the best clip in this category. When uploading your clip, you will find an upload drop box for either the riddle or the teacher/class competition

Judging criteria for individual competition:

1. Right answer to the riddle - you found out what MARVIN character this is! view riddle;
2. The use of MARVIN capabilities: the extent to which MARVIN has been used originally and creatively in developing an innovative clip introducing the character;

Note: Microsoft Partners in Learning team members and participating organisations are not eligible for participation in the Marvinator competition. The decision of the judges will be final.
